Gallery Gachet is excited to announce 9 W Hastings Street will be undergoing renovations following the close of VANDU's exhibition as we work towards better serving our communities.
We have a summer of offsite events and workshops planned, which begun with a screening at VIFF on June 9 to celebrate four filmmakers that have been in residence at Gachet. Their films launched our Community Screen, and are on view on Gachet’s exterior throughout the summer. An offsite community curation project will take place in Pigeon Park in August, and our outdoor Oppenheimer Park workshops will start July 31st. Head to our Current Events page for more details!
Beginning around late August, our weekly art studio workshop will temporarily move to the Japanese Hall, and our Gachet Writers Group will temporarily move to Carnegie Community Centre, Classroom II, 3rd floor.
Goals for the renovation include:
Rethink our exhibition space to better centre the work of exhibited artists.
Grow as a community hub through improved abilities to make and gather.
Remove barriers to access by improving ventilation and expanding our bathroom.
Create refuge from extreme weather events by adding heating and cooling capabilities.
